WRITE IN JOSHUA VINOGRAD ON THE JUNE 5, 2012 PRIMARY ELECTION BALLOT FOR ORANGE COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE
PLEASE FILL IN THE BOX NEXT TO THE BLANK LINE ON THE BALLOT UNDER “JUDICIAL – JUDGE OF THE SUPERIOR COURT – OFFICE NO. 1”
I am a candidate for Orange County Superior Court Judge, a non-partisan position. I believe the function of a superior court judge is to ensure justice, fairness and enforce the laws adopted by the people with the highest degree of integrity. I am not a judicial activist and do not want to make law, infuse my personal beliefs or politics into the legal system by sitting as a judge. My goal is to make sure the laws adopted by the people are upheld as the constitution directs. I would work hard every day to ensure that every case before me is handled promptly in an unbiased manner. I treat everyone with courtesy and respect in my life, and will do so in the courtroom.
I have a personal stake in making Orange County a safer and better community. With my son having been born a few months ago, now more than ever, I believe the laws have to be upheld and enforced equally and fairly to all. The most successful judges have applied those same values to their work in our legal system.
I believe that judges owe a profound responsibility to uphold and apply the law in every single case in a fair and efficient manner. I intend to do just that. For many persons, appearing in court can be unfamiliar and unsettling. That is why I will take the time to review each motion, research all applicable law and put all of my efforts into each case in an unbiased and ethical manner.
I was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California and live in Orange County with my wife and infant son. I have resided in Orange County for over thirty five years of my life. I attended Top of the World Elementary School, Thurston Middle School and Laguna Beach High School – all in Laguna Beach. I graduated with honors from the University of California, Irvine and attended law school at Loyola Law School, in Los Angeles.
While in law school, I interned for the Honorable Stephen J. Hillman, Federal Magistrate Judge, and also interned at the United States Attorney's Office in Los Angeles. After graduating law school, I served as a law clerk to the Honorable Virginia A. Phillips in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. After my clerkship, I worked as an associate in the business litigation section for the international law firm Paul, Hasting, Janofsky & Walker LLP in the Orange County office and then at Newmeyer & Dillion, LLP, also in its Orange County office. Then, in 2009, I founded the Law Offices of Joshua B. Vinograd, PC, where I dedicated myself to my clients and quickly established myself as a strong, reliable and personable advocate. I have been a member of the California bar since 2001 and have tried numerous cases during my ten years of practice, both jury and judge trials.
I have had the privilege of serving as an attorney in Orange County, California, since 2002. At this point in my career, and after having appeared before many Orange County judges in general civil and complex litigation, I feel our courts can benefit from an infusion of new blood. As such, I would greatly appreciate it if you would write in my name on the June 5, 2012 ballot. I also would appreciate it if you would pass my name on to other voters in Orange County that are looking to revitalize the Orange County Superior Courts with an unbiased judge that will instill faith in the system and bring integrity to the bench.
I hope that my experience, qualifications, and dedication earn your confidence and vote on June 5, 2012, so that I may serve the people of Orange County. Thank you for this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Joshua B. Vinograd
